Shauna Lacow, FNP-C
Shauna joined our practice summer of 2017 as a recently certified nurse practitioner who graduated with honors from Walden University. She began her nursing career in 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia. Shauna has been an RN for 13 years, mostly in critical care and held a certification in emergency nursing.
Her interest in medicine started as a young child when she would flip through her parent’s medical resource book with fascination. She joins the practice loving patient care and carries enthusiasm to grow as a healthcare provider. Shauna's philosophy for healthcare is to treat each patient as an individual requiring individualized care.
Shauna has been married for 19 years to her high school sweetheart. They have one fabulous daughter and one spoiled Rottweiler named Ripley. Shauna and her family moved to Boise in 2007 from Georgia and love calling Idaho “home”. She enjoys traveling, snacking while watching YouTube videos, and enjoying whatever her events planner (husband) has planned for the week.
Scott Frisby, PA-C
Scott comes to Meridian Family Medicine with over twelve years of experience in healthcare, where he has focused primarily in urgent care and family practice. A graduate with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Mountain College, he worked as the general surgery team leader in Bozeman, Montana before moving to Utah and overseeing the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions for all age groups at the practice where he worked. Eventually settling in Meridian, Scott worked at an urgent care where he handled minor emergencies, fracture management, laceration repair among other physician assistant duties.
Scott's personal philosophy of quality instruction with compassion allows him to provide personalized care for patients of all ages and backgrounds. As an avid outdoorsman, Scott enjoys hiking and camping where he loves to capture his beautiful surroundings with his camera. He is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and plays jazz string bass in his spare time.
His wife and four boys are his life and he is excited to work at Meridian Family Medicine where he can build relationships with patients and do what he loves.
Meredith Mangum, FNP-C
Meredith joins the practice as a graduate from Frontier Nursing University. In 2008, she became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Boise State University, where she played soccer for the Broncos. She has worked in emergency rooms and intensive care units across the Treasure Valley, as well as a weight loss surgery clinic.
Meredith became a Family Nurse Practitioner to provide holistic and preventive care for families. Her personal philosophy of mindfulness fuels her enthusiasm to treat every patient with empathy and compassion. She welcomes all patients, but is particularly interested in pediatrics and dermatology. As a former collegiate athlete, she has a passion for sports medicine and promoting health through nutrition and exercise.
Born and raised in Boise, Meredith is a true Idaho native. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys snow skiing, whitewater rafting, and yoga. She also loves traveling the world with her boyfriend Bjorn, who is a local Boise fireman. Creating meaningful relationships with her family and friends has always been a priority, and she is now looking forward to building lasting relationships with her patients at Meridian Family Medicine.
Janelle Barney, FNP-C
Janelle Barney joins our practice from Arizona. She attended Arizona State University for both her RN and NP training and graduated with honors. She has over 8 years of experience as a family nurse practitioner and over 13 years as a registered nurse with varied areas of experience. She worked in pediatrics, step-down NICU and postpartum as a registered nurse and has been caring for all ages in family practice as a nurse practitioner.
Janelle believes her role as a provider is to be a partner and advocate for her patients. She is proficient in skin procedures, joint injections, trigger point injections, and is passionate about helping her patients achieve a healthier lifestyle through comprehensive medical weight loss. Some of her areas of specialty are treating migraines, thyroid disease, chronic fatigue, diabetes, and weight loss assistance.
Janelle is the mom of two adorable little girls and the wife of one incredible husband. She loves reading, hiking, traveling and going on adventures with her family. She looks forward to enjoying the four seasons and beauty of Idaho!
Jennifer Appel Ritchie, PA-C
Jennifer joins Meridian Family Medicine with over six years of experience, primarily in urgent care, family practice and internal medicine. In 2012, she graduated with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University. Jennifer started her career working in urgent care in Boise, where she treated a variety of conditions including acute minor emergencies, sports injuries, and low-risk procedures. She then transitioned into family practice, where she enjoyed managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions and gained an appreciation for the impact that family practice providers have on the community. She has spent the last two years in inpatient internal medicine, where she has enjoyed treating a broad spectrum of complex medical conditions that have given her a profound respect for the importance of preventative medicine. She is excited to return to family practice because it provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with her patients to cultivate individual, personalized, long-term healthcare.
Jennifers love for international travel has instilled in her a compassion for other cultures and an understanding that each life is unique. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys the ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients. She takes particular interest in womens health, sports medicine, and pediatrics.
Jennifer and her husband, Lance, welcomed their first child into the world in April of 2018. They enjoy an active lifestyle and are excited to raise their son in the beautiful Treasure Valley. They love mountain biking, camping, and any excuse to explore the natural splendor of Idaho.
David J. Butuk, MD
Dr. Butuk has been practicing family medicine since 1994. He graduated from medical school in 1991 and completed his family practice residency in 1994. Dr. Butuk is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of the American Board of Family Physicians and the Idaho Medical Association.
Dr. Butuk established Meridian Family Medicine in 2006 to create a doctor owned medical practice with the ability to provide every patient with first-rate medical care. Since 2006, Dr. Butuk has added five (5) medical providers to join the Meridian Family Medicine medical staff. He enjoys treating patients of all ages and the whole family. Dr. Butuk focuses on preventive medicine with an emphasis on healthy nutrition and lifestyle.
Dr. Butuk, his wife and two children have made Meridian their home since 2003 and have enjoyed all the benefits of living in Idaho. He enjoys a busy and active lifestyle outside the clinic.
